The honest ROI math one bill vs. a vendor stack
Most offices rent their operation from five to seven vendors — and the subscription is just the start. Per-seat, per-transaction, and overage fees quietly pile on. Here’s a conservative season, side by side.
Then the fees pile on
And that’s before a single overage or mid-season price hike.
~$3,159 less — and one bill instead of seven.
Illustrative and conservative — 4 preparers, 200 accepted filings, a ~6-month season. Your numbers move with your volume; high-volume offices file thousands and we build a custom package.
Questions, answered before you ask
The pricing objections we hear most, addressed straight — no fine print, no asterisks that move the number.
Why an activation fee instead of a free trial?
The $499 season activation is what stands up your office — your tenant, preparers and seats, refund-product setup, and training before the rush. It is one fee for the whole season, not a monthly subscription, and there is no separate setup charge on top of it. (Custom branding and white-label colors are a separate add-on — just ask us.)
What exactly counts as a "filing"?
Each accepted return — federal and state — is one $19 filing, and a corporate return is $29.95. Cash clients and refund-transfer clients price exactly the same — there is no penalty for how the client pays you.
When am I actually billed?
Per-filing fees are pulled from a card on file every Friday, for the prior week’s accepted returns. You are not invoiced for work in progress, and you are not charged for a return the IRS rejects — only for the ones that go through.
Are there per-seat fees or hidden add-ons?
No per-seat fees — add as many preparers and reviewers as your office needs without the meter changing. The season activation and the flat per-accepted-filing rate are the only charges; e-file, e-signature, and payments are included in that per-filing fee rather than billed separately. Pricing is season-based and governed by your TaxWallet service agreement.
Can I lock in this rate for next season?
Yes. A $500 deposit by September 1, 2026 grandfathers your current per-return rate into next season, so a price change later does not reach you. It is the way to protect your margins a year ahead.
What if I run thousands of filings or multiple offices?
Then the rate card is a starting point, not the answer. High-volume offices and multi-office networks get a custom fee schedule built around real numbers — call us and we will put it together with you.
Custom branding & white-label

Pricing terms
What counts as a filing. For tax professionals, one accepted client filing is a federal return plus one state — federal + 1 state = 1 filing. Each additional state on the same client is a separate $19 filing. Corporate returns (1120, 1120-S, 1065) are $29.95 each. Cash clients and refund-transfer clients are priced the same.
Office (professional) pricing. The $499 season activation stands up your office for the season — tenant, preparers and seats, refund-product setup, and training. Per-filing fees of $19 are charged from a card on file every Friday for the prior week of accepted returns; rejected returns are never billed. The $19 per-filing rate is the only transactional fee — e-file, e-signature, and payment handling are included in it, not billed separately — and there are no per-seat fees, so you can add preparers without the price changing. Use of the platform is governed by your TaxWallet service agreement. Custom branding and white-label are available on request and are not included in the activation fee.
Taxpayer (self-file) pricing. Self-file prices start at $59.95 and cover federal filing only; state filing is not included. Prices are per return. Additional processing fees may apply at checkout, and refund-advance and bank-product availability is subject to qualification and partner terms.
Figures reflect current pricing and may change for future seasons; deposit-lock holders keep their grandfathered per-filing rate. Refund advances up to $7,500 are offered by third-party banking partners, subject to eligibility. This summary is for convenience and does not replace your service agreement.
